Bennnnnnnnnnnnnch is a modular bench designed for the Ugory Social Welfare Home in Szelag Garden in Poznan. Given the spot to fill in with our interference - the terrace - the aim was to create well-thought-out arrangement of furniture adapted to the needs of seniors (aged from 50 to nearly 100 years old). Key to the project was to fit in the stunning modernistic facade of the building and provide plenty of comfortable and accessible space for the inhabitants of the house. Accessibility, ergonomics and comfort were our main guidelines. We’ve decided to work with a very basic construction, but play with the scale - the finished piece is a very long extruded shape of a perfectly familiar form of a park bench. It consists of 4 different modules to make different arrangements possible. Some seating modules are equipped with wheels, so they can be moved easily by the staff to create separate spaces for guests or workshops that take place at the facility. Modules that cover the AC could be used as a table to put coffee on or a place to lean on for a while.
